The scarf is worked IN ONE PIECE from beginning to end. I have never seen anything constructed this way. It's pure genius if you ask me. I did change a few things when I did the last section and edging. The edging is a crochet edging where you chain 7, single crochet in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, chain 7 etc. I did two rounds of the edging instead of 1, doing the single crochets in the stitch that was skipped the first time around. Also instead of keeping the entire scarf stitches live after finishing chart D I chose to cast off each D section and single crochet around to the next section where you would pick up the stitches to work another D section. For me, this was much easier than working it with all the stitches live. I would have gone nuts and this way I was able to do the double row of edging.I must admit, I am very pleased with the final result. I hope the person it is intended for will feel the same way.

The scarf is absolutely beautiful. I am impressed how fast you've finished it. (It took me two weeks for three segments :)).
And it was an excellent challenge as well for the group.
What's next ;) ?
I am not sure. I've got some other commitments before I can start another Japanese project. I hope to try something by sometime next month.

wow! it's gorgeous!! and 2 rows of crocheted edging, you're a more ambitious women than I am! did you block it at all? I'm thinking about doing it in a heavy laceweight and blocking the heck out of it.

I did block it but I used DK weight wool. If I had used lace weight I might have pinned the heck out of it. I washed it in soak, laid it flat, shaped it, and let it dry. I didn't pin it at all this time.
I already want to make another one but this time I am not sure what yarn I want to use.

the colour is gray, not white. It's just the camera, I guess. The recipient has a black coat so I thought the gray would go great with the black.
I bet it would look great knitted with a Noro yarn - with all these changes of directions.
You say the scarf pattern is pure genius - well I say that you have done a magnificent job in making it look so good.
