New Member

Hi, another new member here. Very happy to be part of this talented group.

I was born and grew up in Taiwan where just about all of the knitters learned to knit the Japanese way. In fact, it took me a long time to learn how to read written instructions when we moved to Ontario, Canada way back.

I do read, speak & write Japanese fairly well and would be more than happy to help if there's any questions regarding patterns, etc.

Just received #11 last Friday, and would like to start the shawl as soon as I could find time between my new home & new project at work, hopefully soon. :)

Hi Margaret and welcome.
Great we have you on board - we are most of the time struggling translating the patterns.

The shawl is beautiful. How do you plan to cast on the first 7 stitches? Is it any explanation in the pattern or is it just normal cast on?

thanks,
Silvia

I looked through other patterns, and noticed that most of them are using provincial CO, but for this shawl, it simply stated CO 7 stitches.

But I guess, one could also use the provincial CO like the Flower Basket Shawl.

Hi Margaret - Boy am I glad you joined this group! I'd love a translation of the shawl pattern in Let's Knit 11. Especially the first two paragraphs of written instructions. I understand that the bottom chart is the first to be knit but I'm not sure how many times the other 3 charts are to be repeated or what the shaded center stitch in the center of the left hand side of these charts means.

Thanks again, in advance. If this is not the right place to post the translation you can send it to me off the blog.
